Every project begins with a conversation. Sometimes a customer brings a photograph or sketch; sometimes the starting point is a difficult space, an unusual dimension or simply an idea that cannot be found ready-made.
Our role is to listen, interpret and turn that request into a practical solution, checking proportions, materials, feasibility and construction details before making it.
Design means seeing the result before building it.
The project begins with a conversation
For us, design does not mean moving away from the workshop. It means the opposite: bringing workshop experience into the stage where decisions are made.
Dimensions, wood species, hardware, proportions, finishes and the constraints of the space are assessed together, using photographs, technical drawings, renderings and digital models where useful.
The design becomes a meeting point between what the customer imagines and what we can build well.
1. Bespoke bathroom furniture
In a bathroom design, a few centimetres can completely change the result. Drain positions, depth, drawer openings, taps, washing machine, shower, mirror and access space all need to be considered together.
Solid wood becomes part of a solution that must look beautiful but, above all, work in the actual space.
A design built around the space
Dimensions, the arrangement of elements and details are defined around the actual room and the customer's needs.

The cabinet, mirror and tall unit can be designed as a single system, with consistent materials and proportions.
2. Stairs: where design becomes precision
A staircase clearly demonstrates how much precision bespoke work requires. Every tread must fit the existing geometry, thicknesses, depths, side profiles and junctions.
Where necessary, we turn measurements into technical diagrams, three-dimensional views and construction details so that the design can be checked before manufacture.
Accurate measurements first mean better construction later.
3. Bespoke doors that fit their surroundings
A sliding door is more than a wooden panel. It must work with the pocket frame, hardware, thicknesses, clear opening and finishes of the surrounding space.
For more complex projects, we use renderings and technical drawings to visualise both the aesthetic result and the construction details.
4. Tables and unique pieces
With certain wood species, the design begins with the material itself. An olive wood board, a root or a live-edge slab suggests proportions and solutions that cannot be mass-produced.
In these cases, our role is to bring out what is already in the wood, choosing the base, finish and proportions without erasing its character.
From design to manufacture
Each commission may follow a different path, but our method remains the same:
LISTENING → MEASUREMENTS → FEASIBILITY → MATERIALS → DESIGN → CONFIRMATION → MANUFACTURE
For some jobs, agreeing dimensions and finish is enough. Others require drawings, renderings, reference photographs or more detailed technical specifications.
We do not add design work where it is unnecessary. We use it when it helps make better decisions and reduce errors before production begins.
The catalogue is a starting point
Many BB Design products can be adapted in size, wood species, finish or configuration. Wherever technically possible, we start with an existing model and tailor it to the customer's space.
