MATERIALS, FINISHES AND CARE
Solid wood, finishes and care: choices for each project.
Materials and finishes are described in the product specification and confirmed in the quotation. Any environmental characteristics relate to specific materials and conditions and are stated only where relevant documentation is available.
The first principle is simple: make objects designed to last, repairable where possible and built from identifiable materials.

The value of durability
Furniture that stays in use for many years does not quickly become another item to replace. That is why we favour solid structures, authentic materials and craftsmanship that retain their value over time.
When properly designed and maintained, solid wood can be reworked, sanded, refinished and, in many cases, repaired. This possibility is part of its value.
Design, use and care
We assess wood species, dimensions, workmanship and intended use to define the technical characteristics and care instructions for each item.
Solid wood and natural materials
We mainly work with solid wood because it keeps the nature of the material visible: grain, knots, colour variations and the individual characteristics of each board.
These differences are not erased to create an industrially uniform appearance. They are considered during selection and manufacture to bring out the best in every piece.

Reclaiming wood where it makes sense
In some projects, we use or enhance wood reclaimed from old structures or objects that can be transformed into new furniture.
Reclaimed wood is not automatically suitable for every job: it needs to be checked, cleaned, selected and compatible with the design. When these conditions are met, reusing existing wood preserves its history and character and avoids unnecessary disposal.
Finishes and treatments
The finish is chosen according to the product, its use and the performance required. Where technically appropriate, we can use oils, waxes or water-based products that enhance the natural appearance of the wood.
No single finish suits everything: a dining table, bathroom cabinet and door may need different types of protection. The choice must therefore balance appearance, maintenance, resistance and intended use.

Made-to-order production and cutting plans
A substantial part of our production is made to order. Many products are therefore built only when there is an actual request, avoiding large quantities of items that may remain unused.
Bespoke production also helps us plan dimensions, materials and cuts more carefully, using boards as efficiently as possible.

Materials selected for each project
Every commission requires us to assess the wood species, board dimensions and characteristics before processing.
What we aim to do in practice
- favour durable materials;
- reduce offcuts through careful cutting plans;
- reclaim materials where technically suitable;
- avoid unnecessary production by making products to order;
- choose finishes that suit the actual use of the piece;
- design products that can be maintained and, wherever possible, restored.
Packaging and transport
Protection during transport is essential, especially for heavy or large pieces. We seek a balance between properly protecting the product and avoiding unnecessary packaging materials.
For dedicated deliveries or direct collections, conditions may allow some packaging to be reduced compared with conventional shipping involving multiple handling stages.
Maintenance: helping a product last
Correct maintenance directly contributes to a piece's lifespan. Wood, finishes and components must be used in conditions suited to their intended purpose, avoiding excessive humidity, water ingress, unsuitable heat sources and inappropriate cleaning products.
Where a product comes with specific instructions, it is important to follow them: preserving what has already been made is often the simplest and most effective choice.
No generic environmental slogans.
We prefer to describe what we actually do and assess materials, finishes and reclaimed wood project by project.
Does your project have specific requirements?
If you would like a particular wood species, reclaimed wood or a specific type of finish, tell us about your project. We will assess technical feasibility and the available options.

Environmental and technical characteristics depend on the individual material, finish and product configuration. Certifications or particular features are stated only when genuinely available and documented.
Boards selected for each project
We select boards according to wood species, dimensions and suitability for the work. Any certifications are stated for the relevant material when supporting documentation is available.
Finishes and options for care or repair are assessed for each product and its intended use. We do not claim a general environmental benefit for a finish without specific supporting information.
